Latest News: December 2020

Combat has been wrapped up and am now moving onto improving weapons, including 2 handed weapon types such as staves, spears and great swords (ōdachi) and more. January is when I'll begin working on improving the existing enemy AI and behaviors that need mechanics for stealth type gameplay. Getting close to having most of the game mechanics finished.

Combat & Dismemberment System

I'm trying to blend combat between the bloody carnage of the Ninja Gaiden series and the stealth fighting of Tenchu.  This means that enemies can do a large variety of attacks and decisions based on you and the environment. Check the video below for the Dismemberment System I've been working on.

Significant forward progress!

I've been focusing most of my time now on important features such as COMBAT & STEALTH KILLS, as I want to make some significant progress on this before November.
Here's a development link of something I was messing with:
Head Dismemberment
  • While it is a stealth game, VR combat should be good.
  • Should be able to do stealth kills like in Tenchu.
  • Enemy should die via unarmed & armed combat.
  • I want to have secret ways to kill your enemy.
  • I want it bloody if you decide to use bladed weapons.

This was worked on and added earlier this month:
  • Added a larger variety in physical traps.
  • Enhanced sliding windows, doors, drawers.
  • Started creating new props & characters.
  • Can now climb ropes.
  • Can draw a sword from it's scabbard.
  • Enhanced equipment slots for specific weapons only.
  • Explosive weapons have been created.
  • New items to climb including rocks, vines, boards.
  • Wearable items such as samurai hats & headbands.
  • Lots and lots of bug fixes.

Updating the project

Unity 3D finally came out with v.2020 and I discovered a new controller package that could vastly improve game-play, however the conversion process means I have to redo most of what I created.  For several months, I've been updating and am excited with how everything has improved!

How can you help?

Many things contribute to creating a game: Music, sound effects, models, characters, animation, game mechanics and story. If you know of places to find great Japanese themed audio or game assets that would be of benefit to this project, send me an email and let me know!  Also if you have the skills necessary in order to help and love Tenchu and all things Ninja as much as I do, then you might be a good fit for the team. Lastly, if you just have some helpful advice, tips or critical feedback, please send me a message!

Lastly, spread the word. Nothing helps more than getting noticed. This allows us to get better feedback, aid and the ability to get funded when and if we attempt a Kickstarter or other to generate financial backing.
