Japanese architecture's a b****!. Unlike the typical square houses in most of the world, these structures have a great deal of angles, wood beams, detailed decorative trim, cross pieces and more. Not good if you're trying to keep poly & vert counts low for a mobile VR device!
I've been spending weeks reworking models to reduce anything I can to replace high areas of dense geometry with detailed textures. I completely remodeled the roof and trim area. What was once a 1 million poly scene is now between 80k-300k and still looks just as good if not better than it did before due to Unity light-maps & culling properties. I've been working with the exterior of the ninja temple mostly as my test bed for how the game will look. For fun, I added bamboo trees and some environmental effects just to see what the world could look like.
Above has the default baked lighting & no decoration yet so it will only look better over time!
In the coming weeks I'll be finalizing the layout of the temple. Things I'm adding:
ALOT MORE UPDATES WILL BE COMING SOON!
